Hello Internet Wanderer. My name is Mayank Jain. I am a poker coach and occasional writer. Currently building The Little Rationals (TLR).
I am 37 years old and I live in Bengaluru with my wife, a kid, and two cats. I write about my experiments with living a simpler, more mindful life. Understanding the concept of a good, meaningful life fascinates me. And, this is where I write down these explorations.
Topics you can expect - mindset, creativity, art, mindfulness, and books. Also some personal stories, books, and places that inspire me. For a taste of my writing, check out the most popular articles.
I have compiled a list of 80+ books I like the most across genres. Have a look here.
I also have a Substack where I post semi-regularly. It’s called The Processor.

MY STORY
Growing up, I lived in Alwar, Indore, Kota and graduated from IIT Roorkee. In my first job at JP Morgan, I coded for a living. Two years later, I quit my job and co-founded Musicfellas. It started as a one-person music blog and later became a place to stream, discover and buy independent music. Musicfellas was acquired by Times Internet Ltd. in Feb 2014.
After this event, my mind was a blank slate again. I was still an agitated 20-something always looking for my next fix of adrenaline. I wasn’t unhappy but I wasn’t content either.
That's when I found Minimalism as a way of life. I had never been too fond of consumerism or buying a lot of stuff, so it came easily to me. At the same time, I also discovered the practice of Mindfulness. These two ideas together have helped me in making better habits, being more productive and find contentment with the present moment, appreciate life as it is.
WHAT I DO FOR A LIVING
Currently, I’m a poker coach. Plus, I’m building something new with The Little Rationals.
For the 10 years before that, I had been a professional poker player.
